BIOGRAPHY:
Melissa Beaulieu is a contemporary artist currently living in Vancouver. Born in 1982 in Drummondville Canada she has studied Graphic Design, Visual Art and Interior Design in Montreal and Fine Art at UQTR in Trois-Rivieres Canada.
I believe that life is made up of a series of moments and events that evolve and shape us into the people we become. Similarly my paintings are shaped by an application of brush strokes and colour that reflect my energy and mood at the time and the end result becomes my finished work.
In my recent work I have been inspired by the selfie phenomenon. "The Age of the Narcissism". Selfies pictures are everywhere in the social media and so is articles talking about it. It might be a symbol of who we are becoming as a society and I felt my new series should be about this reality.
