ARTIST STATEMENT:
Chris Brandell is a contemporary artist based in Vienna, Virginia. Her work is best described as a fundamental experiment in color through the application of paint to canvas. Using acrylic and oil, she chases hue, intensity, texture and composition resulting in work that engenders an emotion and a visual experience. The purpose of her work is to interpret the complexity of the human dynamic -- not only her own but that of those around her. She believes that her artistic passion is tangible and that her paintings reflect the tactile reality which is the inspiration for the work.

Chris started painting during a creative journey that began when she met her interior designer, Joanna Abizaid of ClineRose Designs. Joanna was the catalyst for a life change that led Chris to explore her artistic side. She identifies with and is inspired by contemporary artists such as Marisa Purcell, Michelle Armas and Helen Frankenthaler.
Chris has worked in the government contracting industry in the Washington DC Metropolitan area for over 25 years and can be found most days either in her offices at Trowbridge & Trowbridge, LLC or in her studio. Chris’ work has been seen at a variety of local exhibits, as well as on Etsy.com and Saatchiart.com, and she delights in working with private clients on commission projects.
