BIOGRAPHY:

My name is Krystyna Spink, I am a self taught artist born in 1964 living in west yorkshire Leeds. This has been my home all my life. The beautiful landscapes and historical buildings where I live, have inspired my forest and gate paintings. As a child I was most happy while playing in woodland with my brothers and sister.

Part of my childhood was spent in a boarding school not far from southhampton. I missed home terribly, but this is when I first saw the most beautiful painting created by a sixth former. I was stunned by her talent. I knew then, one day I wanted to be an artist.

When moving back to Leeds, I found it hard fitting back into school life here. I constantly day dreamed in class, which got me into so much trouble. These day dreams are now coming alive in my balloon, outerspace, mushroom and abstract paintings.

A Fraction of Action

I have studied many arts and crafts over the years including cake art which took up a lot of my time.It was not until I moved into my present home that my young son wanted to paint a canvas. That was in 2005. Once I started that was it...all my day dreams came flooding back. I painted from morning till night, trying out new techniques.

Many of my first paintings ended up in the bin. After trying different mediums, I found that for me acrylic was the best. You can move it around like water color, and it has the thickness of oils, perfect for creating texture. This is my journey which will take me the rest of my life to paint the ideas I have.
