BIOGRAPHY:
Inspired by his intrinsic connection to the structures found in nature and the expressions of times, artist and architect Durand Seay’s art is surreal at time, and explores the subconscious mind through fantastic imagery. Art lovers, especially in the southeast United States, have enjoyed this widely exhibited, award-winning artist since 1978. Durand works in oil on canvas, painting a wide variety of subjects, from abstract to the figure. Professionally, Durand works as an architect, but his dream remains to retire from that field and support himself with his art.
In his work, Durand Seay is guided by the spontaneity of the moment. His mind functions as a camera; capturing the instant feeling of the wind against the face. Then his talented hands guide his brushes to strokes that allow others to experience the same. As he paints, symbols of balance, serenity, and the interconnection of people emerge as the focal points.
His list of awards is quite extensive, and includes several Best of Show Awards in multiple years, from multiple exhibitions. Likewise, Durand’s work has been exhibited in New York City, Chicago, Cincinnati, and Ferarra, Italy.
